What: #KuboParty—a celebration of Kubo by Piopio in partnership with Preen.ph.
The agenda: A fiesta-themed occasion filled with shopping, music and street food.
#KuboParty featured a fun twist on the usual. Aside from a photo booth where guests could strike a pose, there was a denim jacket patching activity where they could give old pieces new life with patches.
There was also a panel discussion with Piopio’s Paloma Urquijo Zobel and Preen.ph associate editor Tisha Ramirez.
Drum group Hernandez Brothers kicked off the dancing. Drinks were served up by Jungle Bar and Yardstick, while dating app Bumble offered a customized mocktail.
For the food, there was a jollijeep outside Kubo offering snacks and juice for that purely Filipino urban experience. It was hard to choose from guilty pleasures like fishballs, kwek-kwek, French fries, kikiam, beef rendang sliders from Your Local, puto, sago’t gulaman, and buko juice. So you can tell we got a serving of each.
Who showed up, you ask? A cool party like this saw equally cool guests such as actress Glaiza de Castro, “Asia’s Next Top Model” contestant Jach Manere, designers CJ Cruz and Mich Dulce, and director Samantha Lee.
The party lasted through the night with music by DJs Badkiss and Mafia.
Kubo by Piopio is the local label’s first physical store at Esteban street, Makati City. Piopio is the clothing brand conceptualized by Paloma Urquijo Zobel.
The store carries not only Piopio pieces but also other lifestyle finds like summer bags from Viajecito and beauty products from Beach Born.
Aside from the #KuboParty, Preen.ph has also organized Preen sessions with Sen. Risa Hontiveros, Kat Alano, Iza Calzado and Iya Villania-Arellano as guest speakers. —CONTRIBUTED
