Online retail store Shopee apologizes after fans of Blackpink voiced their displeasure on Twitter by using the hashtags #ShopeeScam.

In a statement posted on their social media accounts, the Shopee team said that they apologize “for the issues involving the Shopee x BLACKPINK meet-and-greet today in Manila. We hear your feedback loud and clear, and we understand that the event fell short of the high standards that Shopee users and BLACKPINK fans expect.”

“Although we took immediate steps as soon as we discovered the problems to ensure the rightful winners of our contest could claim their prizes, we know that the entire process caused confusion, disappointment, and upset for many. We are reaching out to all those affected by this issue, and we are also taking steps to ensure that such an incident does not occur again in the future.”

The Shopee X Blackpink Meet and Greet was held at the SM Samsung Hall on June 6.  Tickets to the event were earned by purchasing items through the app.  According to the mechanics, the top 568 spenders would receive passes while the top 40 will get the chance to be onstage.

But some fans complained that they did not make the leader board when they spent more than other people.

While others complained that the tickets issued to them were revoked.

The issue continued until the day of the event.

It also surprised a lot of those who got in that the Top 40 became 50.  According to Twitter user @lallalisa_m, they were lining to go up the stage when they were told by the staff that they were not part of the Top 40 people to meet Blackpink.  But the said fans stood their ground to keep their spots.
