TW Steel watches are known for their clean lines and for their no-nonsense, oversized design.

Its slogan, “Big in Oversized Watches,” is a self-explanatory one, and TW Steel has stuck to it for close to 15 years.

The Dutch premium watch brand, founded by father-and-son duo Ton and Jordy Cobelens in 2005, quickly gained an international following for its clean lines and no-nonsense design.

Through the years, Ton Cobelens has continued to take charge of design. “He’s really the one who has final say on what goes into production,” said Jordy Cobelens. The owners’ hands-on approach could be the reason the brand continues to remain relevant.

By not conforming to what’s available or what is considered normal, TW Steel has managed to carve a niche in watch design, setting its own trends and style.

A decade ago, Alan Dacanay of The Watch Store Asia Ltd. clinched the deal to distribute TW Steel in the region, where it caught the eye of discerning clients.

“We have customers with extensive and expensive watch collections who proudly wear their TW Steel watches,” Dacanay told Lifestyle. Like the Cobelens, Dacanay and his son Manuel are intent on growing the audience for TW Steel.

The brand was officially launched in the Philippines in October 2009 by Lucerne Jewellers. To mark the 10th anniversary of the brand in the country, TW Steel has come out with a limited-edition watch with just 320 units produced.

The TW Steel X is expected to be a highly covetable timepiece, especially for watch collectors and fans of the premium watch brand.

The dual time watch is powered by Swiss chronograph movement by Ronda AG. This is encased inside a 44-mm high-grade 316L steel case with an elegant brushed finish. Sporting a bezel design with eight screws and a polished finish on the sides, each TW Steel X comes with a silicon rubber strap, a durable sapphire coated crystal, and is waterproof up to a depth of 10 ATM.

Priced at P40,000, the TW Steel X is available in all TW Steel Boutiques nationwide.
