When asked what she thought of people calling her son Vico Sotto “Mayor Bae” or “Babe Mayor”, Connie Reyes said, “Huwag naman! Huwag niyong tawagin ganu’n.” according to a report by Bandera.

Although Reyes also said that Mayor Vico would usually just laugh it off.

The question comes in the wake of the increasing popularity of the young politician who, after his landslide victory getting elected mayor of Pasig, remains an eligible bachelor. (Imagine still hearing those words in 2019! But, alas, archaic doesn’t mean untrue.)

“He would need somebody who is really a godly person,” said his mom.

Whether Mayor Vico would be equally as aggressive pursuing a dating life, or he would be one of those I’m-married-to-my-constituents singletons (like, uhm, Elizabeth I), time has yet to tell.

In the meantime, he seems busy. Recently, he is seen on social media developing a system for soliciting complaints in local government, and being briefed by the DRRMO (the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, if you didn’t already know) about Tropical Storm Falcon, among other things. —JG
