Louie Ablaza turns 81 amid his prized vintage cars

Zambia Honorary Consul Louie Ablaza

It was a trip down memory lane for the guests of Louie Ablaza, the honorary consul of Zambia, during his grand 81st birthday celebration in Hacienda Amelia, the family’s “happy place” in Alfonso, Cavite.

On display were the honoree’s prized possessions and mementos such as classic and vintage cars and gowns designed by prominent Filipino designers.

The whole day celebration started with a Mass, followed by cocktails in the museum/garage and lunch at the pavilion.
Reminiscent of the classic motor racing festivals as well as the genteel prewar-era outdoor parties, the occasion drew Manila’s well-heeled set even on a Sunday.

The men were clad in bespoke morning suits, while the ladies wore their finest cocktail dresses with hats and lovely fascinators to match.

Louie looked like the debonair bachelor he once was, while his wife Mellie looked every inch the grand society dame in a floral printed dress and exquisite emeralds.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous grazing table spread and lunch, both prepared by chef Jessie Sincioco of Chef Jessie, and serenaded by World Championship of Performing Arts five-time champion violinist Jake Juleous Gacang, a tenor, and the Marcy David Band. An afternoon of dancing followed the thoroughly enjoyable lunch.
The festivities were a true reflection of Consul Louie’s 81 years of happiness and abundance.
