Pinoy artist to stage ‘Hugis and Kulay’ exhibit in Qatar

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino artist Frederick Epistola is set to showcase his art exhibit on the Philippines’ living traditions at the Katara Art Center in Doha, Qatar.

According to a statement issued by the organizers on Saturday, the exhibit, titled “Hugis at Kulay,” will display 15 paintings and 15 sculptures that represent the Filipinos’ rich history and culture, highlighting “their philosophy and beliefs and their everyday way of life.”

Epistola said he would want his works to show “his reflection and reaction to these common historical and collective experiences which do not only affect Filipinos but all societies in the world.”

His exhibit will be staged in Building 22, Gallery 2 of the center from Aug. 25 to 30.

The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara and the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar and Philippines’ National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Sentro Rizal are the hosts for the event.
