Paper as art medium

“Fleeting View 2” by Kat Grow

Paper as an artistic medium once more takes centerstage in Galerie Stephanie’s “Position Paper 2019,” ongoing until Sept. 16.

To explore the ways artists use paper, curator Ricky Francisco took on an inclusive approach, so that emerging artists are featured side by side with the veterans, including national artists.

Over all, there are more than 50 artists represented in the exhibit.

“The exhibit aims to open the public’s awareness of the possibilities of paper,” said Francisco. “In terms of technique, drawing, painting, photography, collage, embroidery, writing, book binding and various permutations of these techniques are showcased. We hope that with this approach, a variety of forms emerge to showcase the versatility of paper, and by doing so, engender a renewed appreciation for the medium.”—CONTRIBUTED
