MANILA, Philippines — To foster “global culture” and “promote tourism through friendship,” a two-year-old pageant that showcases beauty, talent, and sports enlisted 35 beauties from around the country for its 2019 edition, with not one, but six crowns at stake.

The Miss Philippines Foundation Inc. presented the young delegates at the preliminary national costume and evening gown competitions at the plaza of the Newport Mall at Resorts World Manila in Pasay City on Sunday evening.

The winners in the twin contests will be announced during the final ceremonies, where six national beauty titles will also be awarded — Miss Philippines Tourism Queen International Elite, Miss Philippines Face of Beauty International, Miss Philippines International Global, Miss Philippines Globe, Miss Philippines Polo International, and Miss Philippines All Nations.

Aside from each bringing home P100,000 in cash, the eventual winners will also represent the Philippines in international beauty pageants.

Two runners-up, meanwhile, will bear the titles Miss Maharlika and Miss Pearl of the Orient Seas.

The 2019 Miss Philippines pageant coronation night will be staged at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila in Pasay City on Oct. 13.

But before the final contest, the delegates will fly to Puerto Princesa City in Palawan for the preliminary talent and swimsuit competitions on Sept. 20. The “Filipiniana” competition is set on Sept. 28.
