Michael Pastorizo’s ongoing exhibit, “Fibonacci,” at Galerie Joaquin UP Town Center draws on one of the most famous mathematical formulas. The result is a series of paintings that depict patterns of lines and colors, and embodies the contours, shades and wonders of nature.

Along the way, in finding correspondence between the Fibonacci sequence and workings of nature, Pastorizo seeks to convey the infinitude of art, its timeliness and timelessness.

Each number in the Fibonacci sequence is the sum of the two numbers that precede it. The mathematical equation has been called “nature’s secret code,” and “nature’s universal rule.” It is said to have governed the dimensions of everything, from wonders of nature to manmade ones such as the Great Pyramid of Giza.

The patterns on Pastorizo’s paintings mirror the ebb and flow of nature.
