What were those boob harnesses at JW Anderson? Sarah Mower called them jewelled bras, but if you’re not already familiar with the visual, they weren’t quite those Victoria’s Secret million-dollar fantasy bras that would make the news when it’s that time of the year.
Judging from closer-up photos, they look like chunky crystal-encrusted posture correctors tied non-too-fastidiously at the back with a mariner’s rope.
How does one wear them? On the JW Anderson runway, these bras are overwear instead of underwear. You’re supposed to wear them over a billowy dress or, better, a billowy dress with pillowy-looking cartoon-flower appliqués on the chest.
Since they don’t have the ergonomic fastening system of your usual jewelled bra, you might need a friend to help you put them on.
We know that JW Anderson has always been a fun playground for the weird little accessory, like last season’s caps that hover on the head, and I always look forward to see if and how people will wear them IRL.
