Patrick Sugui drops a fit pic worth noting: a full denim-on-denim look, a.k.a. the Canadian tuxedo. (A little Googling shows me CR Fashion Book also reported on it earlier this year.)
For our purposes we’ll skip the history and the Britney and Justin Timberlake reference and dive straight into practical matters: How to pull it off?
Here, Patrick gets several things right: The jacket’s a good fit (you see that it’s snug on the shoulders and the cuffs don’t extend farther down the wrist), and he paired it with sensible, straight-cut jeans with a similar wash.
If you’re feeling fancy, you can substitute the Chucks with a pair of Brogues and you’ll be the coolest guy at high tea.
Another guy who does this combo pretty well is our main man at Louis Vuitton, Nicholas Ghesquiere. Below, spot his take on denim-on-denim, while being shot by Craig McDean.
Nicholas wears different tones of denim but likewise keeps the fit neat and snug. —JG
