Angelina Jolie has been photographed toting it in several paparazzi shots. And it’s the same Alto Monogram carryall the actress is photographed with in Louis Vuitton’s newest “Core Values” campaign, Jolie’s debut as the French malletier’s latest endorser.
The campaign—shot by Annie Leibovitz—shows a bare-faced Jolie wearing her own clothes, barefoot and sitting on what appears to be a wooden boat in a bucolic backdrop. It was shot in Cambodia’s Siem Reap province.
Cambodia is close to the actress’ heart: She adopted her eldest son, Maddox, from that country.
Jolie first traveled to Cambodia in 2000 where she shot the cult film “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.” She returned there after her appointment as United Nations high commissioner for refugees and goodwill ambassador, where she campaigned to raise awareness on the dangers of land mines.
According to Women’s Wear Daily’s exclusive interview with Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s EVP for marketing and communications, Jolie—who’s known for her humanitarian causes—donated a portion of her fees to charity. Beccari, however, declined to disclose how much the actress was paid for the campaign.
Such move isn’t unusual for Jolie, who, with partner Brad Pitt, is known to donate her fees for such projects to charity. When their three biological children were born in 2006 and 2008, the couple sold the exclusive photos to benefit charity. Jolie and Pitt have six children together, three of whom are adopted.
“We are honored that Angelina Jolie agreed to participate in our ‘Core Values’ campaign, whose central theme of travel as both a physical and emotional journey is one with which she can personally identify,” Beccari said in a statement. “Angelina Jolie is a global star in every sense—not only in her career as an actress, but also in her long-term commitment to international humanitarian issues.”
The Alto carryall, which is shown in the campaign, is a style that has been discontinued. But “we are considering to re-edit it,” Beccari told WWD. Jolie’s own bag is estimated to be six years old, WWD wrote.
The popular “Core Values” campaign, which debuted in 2007, has featured Mikhail Gorbachev, U2’s Bono, Keith Richards, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, Catherine Deneuve, Sean Connery. CVM
