Galerie Stephanie presents “To See For Oneself,” featuring three contemporary visual artists: Ciane Xavier (Brazil), Dexter Sy (Philippines) and Roby Dwi Antono (Indonesia).
Xavier is a commercial model and self-taught visual artist. Her paintings and sculptures depict multiculturality and migration. They “explore the boundaries of today’s society, touching upon globalization and the distractions of the millennial era,” she explained.
Sy similarly hails from a diverse cultural background, of both Filipino and Chinese ethnicities, which he said should show in his work as a visual artist and a college professor. In 2017, through the Philippine Artist Residency Program of Alliance Française de Manille, he had a residency and solo exhibition at Centre Intermondes in La Rochelle, France.
Indonesian pop surrealist Antono also has been making waves in the regional art scene for his rich, smooth, color-infused brushstrokes depicting a myriad of symbolic icons.
“To See For Oneself” is part of Galerie Stephanie’s participation in Discovery Art Fair in Frankfurt, Germany. The fair will be held at Forum Messe Frankfurt, Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1, 60327 Frankfurt am Main, Nov. 1-3. —CONTRIBUTED
