Pablo Cabahug has come a long way indeed since winning the 2010 LOOK of Style Awards, which Lifestyle held with the British Council and which landed him a two-week scholarship grant at Central Saint Martins in London.

This year, Cabahug celebrated his 10th year in fashion design with a gala show held at the PICC Nov. 4. Part of the proceeds are earmarked for the construction of  the quadricentennial building of his alma mater, Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Intramuros.

Cabahug, who loves to call himself the “Inquirer baby,” given how Lifestyle helped jumpstart his career,  called his 10th anniversary collection “Rayons Du Soleil.”

“I wanted to revisit my most memorable collections and reimagine them with a romantic feel,” Cabahug told us.

His color palette of gold, tan, light pink, and the noncolor black represents a time of day—sunset to sundown. “This symbolizes the never-ending opportunities in life,” Cabahug said. “Falling and rising again to live another day, to start anew. This is also me telling my journey in the industry that I truly love.”

Cabahug did not hold back. He used fabrics generously—velvet, brocades, taffeta, mesh fabrics, Mikado silk and tulle—drove home his ultra-feminine style. His clothes defined unmistakeably the feminine body—sexy and fluid silhouettes.

Bubble gowns and dresses with intricate layering, jumpsuits, corseted dresses, men suits composed his collection.

“I still believe in classic silhouettes,” Cabahug added. “I do simple and classic pieces, updated with the right infusion of trends.”

After 10 years in the industry, Cabahug now believes that he can already define his aesthetic—it’s always about championing a woman’s body.

“I try to be updated by injecting new silhouettes and treatments but still with my classic aesthetics.”
