Libiran at The Podium

Rain Libiran’s “Timeless Tableaux” consists of elaborately staged compositions in ink framed in floral or decorative patterns. The framing presents thought-provoking tableaux featuring characters in traditional Filipiniana costume but evoking contemporary resonance.

“The results are familiar yet imaginative, bound up as they are with the struggles of colonial mentality and self-identity,” said art writer Grace Ng. “He extends the complex but fragile history of the Philippines [connecting it] to cultural identity.” —CONTRIBUTED
