MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach will not be able to attend the upcoming Miss Universe 2019 in Georgia due to prior commitments for her travel show.
In one of her Instagram posts over the weekend, Wurtzbach was asked if she already has tickets to the pageant happening on December 9.
“I will not be watching Miss Universe this year,” Wurtzbach said.
Wurtzbach said she was invited by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) to be a backstage host for the pageant, but explained she will be in Japan at the time for her travel show.
“My travel show was invited by the tourism board of japan to feature a festival in Fukuoka. Our working visas were released already before MUO announced the date and venue. MUO invited me to be backstage host with CHI and I really want to!” Wurtzbach said.
Wurtzbach hosts the travel show “Pia’s Postcards” that airs on Metro Channel. It features tourist spots from all over the world.
“BUT it would also be impolite for me to cancel my trip to Japan. Government invitation yun. At may mga visa na kami. Sayang. If I had known sooner baka nagawan ko pa ng paraan,” she added.
(But it would be impolite for me to cancel my trip to Japan. It’s a government invitation. And we already have our visas. It’s such a waste. If I had known sooner, I would have made a way.)
The Miss Universe 2019 pageant is happening on December 9 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The country will be represented by Gazini Ganados with the hopes of achieving a back-to-back crown after reigning Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s victory.
