MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has officially bid farewell to New York City where she stayed as reigning queen to fly to Atlanta and crown her successor.
“ATLANTA here we go! This is also my official goodbye to New York! Feeling super sentimental about it all!” the 25-year-old beauty queen wrote Sunday in a Facebook post.
“I walked into this lobby in these exact boots earlier this year, now we’re 9 days away from welcoming a new queen! Join me for one last trip as your reigning #MissUniverse?” she added.
Gray was the fourth Filipino to win the coveted Miss Universe crown following Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, Margie Moran in 1973 and Gloria Diaz in 1969.
The country’s representative this year Gazini Ganados hopes to claim back-to-back wins for the Philippines as she competes in the Miss Universe 2019 pageant on December 9.
Should Ganados win, the Philippines would be the second country to bag a back-to-back title after Venezuela.
