Margielyn Didal just bagged our fourth gold medal in the Asian Games

Is it a cliché to have Filipino pride right now? Yes and no. Any victory is worth celebrating and Margielyn Didal pushed us to do so today. Bring out the tiny Filipino flags, the Filipina skater just won gold in the Asian Games 2018.

The 19-year-old skater from Cebu dominated in the women’s skateboarding street event at the JSC Skateboard Stadium in Palembang, Indonesia this Wednesday. She scored 30.4 points while fellow skater Isa Kaya of Japan got 25.0 points, and Bunga Nyimas of Indonesia got 19.8 points. Margielyn got gold while the other skaters mentioned got silver and bronze.

Margielyn has been in the skating world’s radar this year by competing overseas non-stop. She competed in the Street League Skateboarding (SLS) in London last July and the X Games in Minneapolis last May. Margielyn’s current win just goes to show that she’s an unstoppable force that the extreme sports’ world needs to watch out for.

She joins the ranks of our gold medal-winning Filipinas at the Asian Games this year. A week ago Hidilyn Diaz won our weightlifting gold while the national women’s golf trio of Yuko Saso, Bianca Pagdanganan and Lois Kaye Go won the gold for the sport.

We currently have 17 medals in the Asian Games so far and its thanks to these powerful Filipina athletes. Our Filipinas are dominating the Asian games so far and we couldn’t be prouder.
