The many uses of rosemary

Let’s start 2020 with the incredible herb, rosemary, which has such diverse qualities both in and out of the kitchen. Rosemary and its essential oil have been studied for an array of medicinal uses.

Our modern work environments demand much from our brains, including multitasking, long hours on computers and jumping from task to task. Drinking rosemary water or tea could be the ideal pick-me-up.

You’ll find rosemary at your local supermarket, by the vegetable section sold as a cooking herb or at garden shops sold in pots.

Add rosemary to a bottle of olive oil and you’ve got an infusion that’s ready to flavor meats for grilling or breads for dipping!

Take a few stems of rosemary and take the leaves off. Put into a processor and blitz for just a few seconds along with some sea salt or kosher salt. You can even add some lemon zest or other herbs and you’ve got a ready-to-use seasoning or even bath salt! Store in a tightly capped bottle and give as hostess gifts.

Preserve leftover rosemary for months by placing them in ice trays with water or oil and freezing them. Use when needed.

The simplest of all these would be to put a few rosemary leaves in a teapot, add boiling water and let it steep for about 10 minutes. Drink this relaxing tea and get the feel like you can take on 2020 with the help of this super herb.

We tied a sprig of rosemary with a bit of twine around a rolled dinner napkin. It added that rustic garden touch as well as a fresh and unique fragrance. Tip: Tie a few sprigs with twine and put them in your sock or linen drawers to make them smell great!
