Wet lips, swoopy chops—beauty trends for 2020 | Lifestyle.INQ

Glittery eyes at Fendi Spring-Summer 2020 show

Another year, another chance to update your look.

Much as I like to stick to what looks flattering, I also believe that beauty allows us to experiment freely.

The promise of the Spring-Summer 2020 runways is all gloss, sparkle, and a throwback to days of glory.

Matte lipsticks will still be on everyday rotation. But when it comes to pumping up your look, gloss is what you need. Don’t shy away from high-shine formulations for your lips.

Look to Gucci 2020 for inspiration. It’s all about the wet look for a luscious lip.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Sweet Stiletto

I suggest the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Sweet Stiletto. It provides that shiny finish sans the stickiness. Plus, you get a bit of skincare, like the antioxidant lotus flower extract. It also lasts up to six hours, so no need to reapply—perfect for cocktail nights.

If you got confidence, you’ll love 2020 as euphoria-inspired makeup will be the rage. To match your shiny lips, eyes will be sparkly and kaleidoscopic.

The runways reflected this, too, via Armani’s sequined lips, Fendi’s glitter “tears,” and Rosie Assoulin’s colorful eyeliners.

If you like to play with contrasts, these looks go well with an all-black outfit or monochromatic looks. Trade in the usual black liner for colored ones while maintaining the rest of your look as you normally would.

It’s obvious that Pat McGrath Labs is what you need for this kind of makeup. Vivid eye shadows are always in her arsenal. Invest in something like the Blitz Astral Eyeshadow Quad in Ritualistic Rose. You can even use some of the shades as blush in case you want to take it a step further.

For eyeliner, Marc Jacobs’ Highliner Liquid-Gel Eyeliner comes in gold, green and orange with names like Gold Getter, Blitz Coin, and Steel the Show. You know you’ll get that fashion editorial finish and pigmentation.

Playful hairstyles

When it comes to hair, things can go simple or very playful. “Swoopy chops” are in, a look back to the days of Linda Evangelista.

If you gave in to a pixie cut in the last year or two and grew it out, now is the time to show off that length. Emphasize it using a GHD Platinum + Ink on Pink Styler.

Don’t forget to give it some TLC as you welcome back the waves with a good shampoo and conditioner combination, such as the Oribe Lust Repair and Restore Shampoo and the Lust Repair and Restore Conditioner. These will give your hair a boost with its cypress, argan, and maracuja oils.

For those with longer tresses, you’ll have fun with ponytails and updos. Look to Vivienne Westwood for inspiration and add a ribbon or two in your hair. For a twist on the slicked-back hair, copy a peg from Chloe.

After a fascination with hair clips and headbands, I like how we are continuing to have fun with hair accessories.

This year is the time to change it—only fitting since it’s the start of a new decade.
