Twelve designers from all over the country will each showcase a three-piece terno collection on Jan. 26 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
The designers are finalists of the terno-making competition organized by Bench and the Regional Arts Center of the CCP Cultural Exchange Department culminating in TernoCon, the national summit on Filipiniana fashion.
Lifestyle came up with a series of street-cred looks from Bench, which has created a line of Filipiniana that can be used for everyday dressing and not just for formal occasions.
Vested interest
The butterfly sleeves are given a modern take with this cropped-top terno in red denim. Get a size bigger for an oversized silhouette. Accentuate the look with a play of patterns and textures, like this fishnet top over a maroon sweater. Finish off with a blue checkered skirt with lace detailing at the bottom.
Bring me to the ball game
Baseball may not be a popular sport among Filipinos, but the look can sure work. The terno can have a sporty silhouette, too, when you wear this denim version with sampaguita patchwork over a white dress shirt—make sure to pop the collar—and quarter-length white denim pants. Finish off with ankle-high graphic socks and sneakers.
Denim play
Make the denim-on-denim look shine when you combine this denim terno cropped top and high-waist wide-leg pants combo with an oversized yellow basic tee. Accessorize with graphic belt in the same color palette and finish off with killer heels.
Girly effect
The usual office wear can also be fun to wear. Get creative with the polo barong by matching it with something girly like this jumpsuit with pleats. Finish off with bulky boots for a slight masculine touch.
