One thing that’s fun to do when it’s the Oscars: Follow the live Twitter commentary from various sources. Janine Gutierrez shared every reaction she had during this 92nd Academy Awards.
She cheered on Brad Pitt, who bagged his first Best Supporting Actor nod for ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’

The true gem came when she celebrated the big win of ‘Parasite.’ The South Korean film on the strange dynamic between two families walked away as the winner of four major Oscar categories, including Best Picture.
So happy for South Korea getting their first Oscar!! I've read about how their govt has heavily supported the film industry through tax breaks and investments and it really shows that govt support is so important!! In film and in sports and in music. Sana oil 🇵🇭

‘Variety’ reported back in 2017 how South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism made changes to their Restriction of Special Taxation Act. This allows production costs for “drama series, animation, and documentaries featuring cultural and natural heritage of the country” to be against corporate tax bills. The amendment also applied to feature films, arthouse, and independent productions.
Hoping we can take a page from South Korea and give a little bit more support to our local films. We’ve got so much to offer!
Last year, ‘Elle‘ took notice of ‘Eerie.” In 2016, Lav Diaz won the Venice Film Festival Golden Lion for ‘Ang Babeng Humayo.’
