The only five things you’ll need to pack for your next beach trip

Heading out to La Union over the weekend made me realize that beach season is starting. One may argue that it’s always beach season in the Philippines, but its peak comes as the cold winds of February depart. March brings with it free days from school, seat sales, and our heightened hearing for the call of the sea.

Packing for my overnight beach trip gave me a chance to test these five products that I would bring again. They represent all that you need to survive a beach trip. It’s a list of bare necessities, so to speak, something we all need when escaping the usual grind for the simple beach life. Why need to complicate anyway? After these picks, you should feel free to add on according to your preference and the length of your vacation.

Celeteque Face and Body Sun Defense Spray

This sunscreen is not sticky. It doesn’t cause pimple breakouts or itchiness. You get SPF 50 plus UVA/UVB defense. It’s easy to apply with a spray that produces a fine mist.

Need I say more for your crucial SPF protection to the beach? I’ll add one more: Affordable!

Pomelo Fashion Halter Neck Frill Dress in Coral Red

When at the beach, I  like dresses that meet three requirements: 1) You can easily throw over your bikini-clad body as you head to the bar for a mojito  2) It’s easy to wash and dry 3) Looks cute in photos but also feels comfortable. This dress meets all of that plus, with the right accessories, makes for a beautiful ensemble in the city.

Fenty Beauty Body Lava in Brown Sugar

For that extra glow in photos and to truly soak yourself in that island life, you should consider this product. Apply it on your arms, décolletage, legs…everywhere!

It may be a little heavy, but it’s worth it when you share the vanilla-scented radiance with your friends.

Melissa Color Pop Flats

These pairs are real troopers. Splashing some water on them cleans them instantly. You don’t need to scrub it or even use soap.

It protects your feet from the hot sand and proves to be slip-proof if you’re making your way through seaweed-covered inlets.

Maaji Ocean Joiness 4 Way Reversible Bralette Bikini Top + Bottoms

A genius product I’ve stumbled on early this month: Maaji offers four different bikini styles in just one two-piece. The Reversible line of Maaji features a front lace-up, the back features a solid top. Flip it, and you get two new different prints. The same goes for the bottoms. Perhaps the best investment to save on money and space for all the beach trips you’ll be having.

Available at Rustan’s Department Store.
