“Parsing Spaces” by Nixxio Castrillo consists of abstract sculptures with complex but lyrical geometries. The works capture the tension between the spontaneity of the imagination and the restraint of craftsmanship.
The son of the late Ed Castrillo, Nixxo Castrillo, said art writer Grace Ng, “employs labor-intensive metal fabrication techniques to realize challenging compound-complex curves, angular geometries and intersection of disparate volumes.”
An architect, Nixxio Castrillo plays around with architectural forms and tight compositions. His works interact with the environment, creating canyons and valleys of shadows between lines. —CONTRIBUTED
