TAGUIG CITY, Philippines — The five-day intense runway training of the 51 official candidates of the inaugural edition of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant culminated in a unique challenge that saw them strutting down a long pavement.
For the “Runway Challenge,” the Miss Universe Philippines pageant transformed the Uptown Parade sidewalk at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City into a 200-meter-long catwalk where fans got to see the candidates up close.
Donning black outfits, the 51 candidates from different parts of the country showcased what they learned from their training and some professional experience, to the delight of the cheering fans.
Miss Universe Philippines Creative Director Jonas Gaffud conducted the training, and sat in the judging panel, alongside Miss Universe Philippines National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee.
The challenge winner will be announced next month in a preliminary event.
The 2020 Miss Universe Philippines coronation night will be staged at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on May 3. The winner will represent the Philippines in the 2020 Miss Universe pageant, whose competition date and venue are yet to be announced.
