German pianist Rolf-Dieter Arens in town for Beethoven festival

Distinguished German pianist and pedagogue Rolf-Dieter Arens is all set for a piano recital on March 14, 7 p.m., at Manila Pianos, Magallanes Village, Makati City.

Arens has played in recitals all over Asia and Europe and has played soloist with acclaimed orchestras under Kurt Masur, Herbert Blomstedt and Sir Neville Marriner.

His program includes Bach’s “Concerto Italiano BWV 971,” Mozart’s “Fantasie d- Minor KV 397” and “Sonate F-major KV 280,” Bach/Liszt “Prelude over ‘Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen’ Hummel Polonaise B-major op.55” and Liszt’s “Cloches de Geneva.”

The Beethoven Festival at Manila Pianos will resume on March 28 with an evening of Beethoven concertos featuring pianist Gabriel Paguirigan and violinist Emmanuel John Villarin with the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra under Jeffrey Solares. —CONTRIBUTED INQ
