PARAÑAQUE CITY, Philippines — Nine crowns, seven of which carry the right to represent the country in international competitions, are at stake in the 2020 Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant, a beauty contest for mothers and married women.

Mitzie Go-Gil, executive director of the Queen of Hearts Foundation Inc. which organizes the national beauty pageant, told the Inquirer at the presentation of delegates at Okada Manila in Parañaque City on March 7 that, aside from seven national titleholders who will be sent to compete abroad, two additional winners may be proclaimed, who will have duties and responsibilities on a nationwide scale.

The seven international delegates will carry the Philippine sash in global competitions and will vie for the titles Mrs. Worldwide, Mrs. Global Universe, Mrs. Asia Pacific Global, Mrs. Asia Pacific All Nations, Mrs. Asia Pacific Tourism, Mrs. Asia Pacific Intercontinental, and Mrs. Asia Pacific Cosmopolitan.

Go-Gil said the ladies would also serve as ambassadors who would work with her foundation.

Fifteen delegates faced a select group of local media scribes at the Executive Suite of Okada Manila. From among them, the press people gave their nod to three “Darlings” coming from Maguindanao, Quezon City, and Caloocan City.

The 2020 Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant was supposed to hold its coronation night at Teatrino at the Promenade Mall at the Greenhills Commercial Complex in San Juan City on April 3.

But after the city government ordered a two-week lockdown following a confirmed case of COVID-19, the theater’s management advised Go-Gil to postpone the staging of the ceremonies, or look for a different venue.

The organizers have yet to release an announcement regarding the matter.
