With everything that has been happening lately, we can’t help but ask ourselves the same question every day: “When will this end?”
The COVID-19 crisis burdens us with the weight of stress and anxieties. Every day, we wake up to news about frontliners sacrificing their lives in this constant battle, or infected patients holding onto their slight chances of recovery.
Let’s also not forget how this global pandemic is drastically changing (or even, reshaping) our daily lives. Since we are all restricted to our homes, we have no choice but to wait a little longer before we get to see or hug our loved ones again—a simple gesture many of us took for granted. However, no matter how disheartening this “new normal” is, we never stop looking for reasons to smile even in the darkest of times.
In an effort to lift everyone’s spirit, PLDT mobile services arm Smart Communications, Inc. released a timely video called “Salamat” that encourages Filipinos to remain hopeful and find meaningful connections #MadeSimple during these uncertain times.
Accompanied by The Dawn’s 1989 hit song “Salamat,” the one-minute video starts off with a melancholic mood to depict the silence brought upon by our current situation. It has been a month since the entire Luzon region was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine.
Then the video transitions to a series of moments in which families and friends can be seen happily reuniting online amid this health crisis. The storytelling is spot on and the heartwarming scenes don’t just deliver a message of hope and connection, but also reflect how we still manage to find hope, meaning, and solace in each other’s presence.
Over the past two decades, Smart has always played a key role in keeping everyone updated and connected. Now that we are facing a pandemic, Smart continues to help us find meaningful ways to connect with each other and be there for the people who matter to us despite our need to practice physical distancing.
