The arnis team’s 14 gold medals is by far the most the Philippines has won in the SEA Games

The Philippine arnis team ended the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA) Games with a remarkable total of 14 golds, four silvers, and two bronze medals on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Angeles University Foundation. 

On the first day of the tournament alone, the Philippines was already ahead of its competitors after claiming five gold medals. Dexter Bolambao, Mike Banares, Nino Mark Talledo, Villardo Cunamay, and Jezebel Morcillo all reigned in their respective categories to claim the country’s first set of gold medals.

The country then continued to dominate on the second day of the tournament, bagging seven more gold medals courtesy of Sheena Belmonte (bantamweight), Jedah Mae Soriano (featherweight), Rosy Ashley Monville (lightweight), and Abegail Abad (welterweight). The men’s team contributed three more gold medals on the same day with Jesfer Huquire leading the charge. 

On the final day, Crisamuel Delfin and Mary Allin Aldeguer swept the anyo open weapon non-traditional category to add two more gold medals to the collection.

The Philippine arnis team ended their SEA Games bid as the team with the most gold medals thus far.
