I have a strong feeling that TV host and social media personality Janeena Chan is as bubbly during the off-hours as much as when she’s on camera. The proof is how she thrived through the lockdown. Not breaking character, she created light but sensible content. It provided a bit of escape but also made us feel connected as we spend time apart.
Janeena has taken advantage of this period to explore another channel, quite literally, as she gets active on YouTube.
What is your regular quarantine routine?
Now it is much better compared to the first few weeks of quarantine. I found momentum again in the new normal that I’ve chosen to accept and work with. I’m doing my best to balance being productive at home while knowing that it’s okay to rest too. I also enjoy slower living in the sense that I have more time to enjoy breakfast, and even make my food at home.
On social media, I noticed you’ve been baking a lot.
I like cooking, baking, and quite enjoy the process of learning recipes. I never knew it was so much fun! I always thought I’d never be inclined to it, but with the Internet and all the knowledge that you can access online, it’s made doable and empowering. I plan on sharing my experiences and recipes I’ve learned on my vlog I call Janeena Channel.
Can you share your favorite recipe?
There are loads! Since the lockdown, I’ve made cheesy spinach lasagna, apple pie, and homemade mocha ice cream. Now I’m excited to experiment with healthy but delicious frozen desserts, and also recipes wherein I can incorporate more fresh fruits and veggies.
What have you realized about creating content for social media in lockdown?
Just like most people, I’ve found Tiktok to be enjoyable. It’s super fun and you learn a lot of fun hacks from it aside from the entertaining short-form videos!
I’ve also been trying to create more videos consistently for my channel, fun beauty “editorials,” and concepts for Instagram. It depends on what I get inspired by at the moment!
I realized that we should re-evaluate and re-asses where we focus our attention. We should chase something that’s worthwhile and truly meaningful. It matters when resources [for content] are easily accessible.
