Everyone’s baking and cooking during the quarantine. What’s best for us who enjoy eating is that more and more home cooks and bakers are selling their goodies. Here are some to try:

Crust and Crumb
Photographer Aldwin Aspillera has revived his beloved bakery Crust and Crumb after his photography business was affected by the pandemic. “Since everyone’s been noticeably comfort eating lately, I figured, why not offer the most comforting food ever—freshly baked bread and pastries,” he said. Crust and Crumb offers panaderia classics, such as Spanish bread, pan de sal, kalihim and pan de coco. “We’ll also offer some of our favorites like the pull-apart cheese loaves, Nutella bread and choco-cinnamon loaf,” he added.
The menu changes every day depending on Aspillera’s mood. “I get bored easily when I do the same thing over and over again.” Last week, he made a quiche that he dubbed Quiche Landing on You.
Check out Crust and Crumb’s Instagram account to find out what they’re serving that day, and then place your order through Viber. Quantities are limited; Aspillera does everything himself. Payment can be made through GCash, PayMaya or and BPI. Book your own Lalamove, Grab or Mr. Speedy while Aspillera is still working on getting his own delivery guys.

Classic lasagna
There are home-based food businesses selling lasagna and I’ve tried a number, but I’d have to say this classic lasagna from Princess Dianne Tan’s kitchen in New Manila, Quezon City, has been my favorite. I’ve had three orders of it and it’s always consistently good—it’s meaty, cheesy and doesn’t scrimp on ingredients.
A tray, which costs P1,500, is good for six to eight people, depending on their appetite. Order two days ahead. And here’s a tip: Maybe order some garlic bread from Elsie’s, as well, because they’re the perfect match. Book your own pickup service. Delivery is free within New Manila.

Mini pecan pies by Homemade by Rita
It was an intense, late-night craving for pecan pie that led me to discover Homemade by Rita. I found Rita’s mini pecan pies on Instagram and immediately ordered a dozen. I got them the next day and they were so good, I ordered two dozen more. That light crust, the delicious filling and the crunchy pecans are pure harmony in my mouth. My mom loves them, too.
Order via Instagram or text. They’re available in boxes of six or 12 but trust me, six won’t be enough.
