1. Chicken rice
There’s chicken rice, and there’s authentic Singaporean chicken rice made by a Singaporean food enthusiast, who also happens to be a world-class aesthetic surgeon. During the lockdown, Dr. Z Teo honed his culinary skills as a passion project to create the heritage dish of his country. The quest to make the dish the way his mom used to prepare it for their family resulted in a stellar chicken rice that got the imprimatur of the Singaporean ambassador to the Philippines. That recipe is now on the Aivee Café delivery menu, a lockdown bestseller.

4. Seafood Fideua
This Spanish dish has the flavors of the Valencia paella without using rice. Chino Hernandez delivers his Hispanic noodle dish in a paellera topped with freshly cooked seafood over fideua, the very thin pasta that resembles Chinese pancit noodles. Besides this festive one-dish meal (P2,200), he also prepares Chicken Galantina (P1,800) with sauce good for eight to 10 people, crab and cheese croquettes (P900.00/40 pieces), and party-size cheesy spinach and artichoke dip (P1,200) for 12-15 people.

5. Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaves
It came in a box with other TimHoWan treats exactly when the hubby was having Chinese food craving. There was something for everyone in the Chef’s Basket C (P3,960) and the box was good for 10 people to enjoy a filling meal of dim sum that included Baked Buns with BBQ Pork, Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp, Prawn Sauce Fried Chicken Wing, Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce and Pork and Shrimp Dumpling.

6. Banh Mi Sandwich
For a while, it seemed only the front-liners had access to Banh Mi Kitchen’s Vietnamese sandwich in a French baguette. When the enhanced community quarantine began, a couple of the outlets stayed open to prepare food for volunteers and hospital workers. Eventually the stores closed when transportation for staff became difficult. Last week operations began in some branches, and the crunchiest bite was back. Besides my personal favorite of Lemongrass Chicken (P169) with their signature pâté and cilantro, they also deliver the Classic with Vietnamese Ham (P169), Wagyu Tapa (P199), Protein Monster (P199), Samgyupsal Kimchi (P199), Vegetarian Satay (P249) and Vegan Fishless Curry (P249). Deliveries available through Grabfood and FoodPanda. Follow @banhmikitchen on Instagram

10. La Bistecca
The kitchen of Margarita Fores didn’t skip a beat, and a hankering for this Cibo bestseller was addressed by the Cibo Rapido service.
