My father loves his work. Whatever it is, you can count on the fact that he’ll give everything he’s got to the task at hand. Whether it was in the Cabinet or in the Senate, he was very dedicated.
That said, he can be stubborn. When the country was placed under the enhanced community quarantine, he still wanted to go to the office, wearing a mask. Yes, my dad was one of those pasaway seniors, and it took his granddaughter Maia to plead with him to stay at home!
Eventually my dad listened to us. Thank God, he did.
He’s such an important person to all of us in the family. Since he’s a senior, we are very careful. I’ve actually seen him in person only once since Metro Manila moved to general community quarantine. That hasn’t been easy, but we keep in touch regularly via Zoom calls.
He never misses any of my interviews, either on TV or online. When he can’t watch them, he’ll ask me for the transcriptions. He keeps up with everything I do.
I love you, Dad! I know you still think of me as your little girl, which is really sweet, but I appreciate that even when I was small, you never talked to me like I was. —CHECHE V. MORAL
