Manila House, the exclusive, members-only club in Taguig, has reopened following general community quarantine (GCQ) regulations. There were rumors that the club, with its six-figure membership fee, would not reopen after the three-month lockdown.
A statement released by the club’s marketing and PR head Bambina Olivares said that they had been welcoming members back “with strict safety and sanitation protocols” that include temperature checks, contact tracing, personal sanitation, foot baths and sanitation of premises. The staff is also required to don face shields, face masks and personal protective equipment throughout but especially during food preparation.
“Like all hospitality companies, however, we face the challenges brought about by the limitations and restrictions imposed under GCQ.”
Olivares said that aside from government-mandated standards, “we have a dedicated app for members that enables contactless check-in, ordering and payment. A QR code that connects to the app also facilitates the completion of the mandatory health declaration for the DOH (Department of Health). We’ve also reconfigured spaces throughout the club to ensure safe physical distancing.”
Since the start of the lockdown, Manila House has been holding webinars for members that tackle “some of the most topical issues of the day.” The series of webinars is expected to continue.
“The heart and soul of Manila House are our members… who have been incredibly supportive during these challenging times,” the statement read. “They supported our food takeaway service and generously gave donations to our feeding initiatives, such as Project Food, which fed indigent residents of a neighboring barangay, and Hot Meals for Heroes, which continues to feed the front-liners.” —Raoul J.
