It looks like Kris Aquino’s eagerly-awaited comeback on television will not yet happen any time soon. No, not as planned.
As reported a week ago, Kris will be hosting a talk show titled “Love Life With Kris” starting July 25, Saturday, on TV5. This came right on the heels of Kris’ contract signing with Cornerstone Entertainment.
“I was reminded by attorney @gideon.pena that the contract i signed had 3 paragraphs regarding CONFIDENTIALITY. So for now it’s just this video,” Aquino addressed her fans in social media.
“i am allowed to thank my @cornerstone family for their patience & perseverance; thank you to NEW partners for their vote of confidence; thank you @jonathanvelasco__ ; thank you @rbchanco for the pics & video; thank you to me for the editing & choice of background music (Love Me Anyway by PINK); and THANK YOU to my FAMILY & all of you, my loyal FOLLOWERS for helping me pray for this moment to finally arrive,” came Kris’ statement on her Instagram video of the contract signing.
But the Queen of Talk’s TV comeback reached a screeching halt as this writer’s source claims that “politics” had gotten in the way of her return to TV.
The source likened the scenario to Kris’ botched return to GMA-7 in 2017. It was at first bruited about that she will make a show with the Kapuso network but the closest thing that came to it was the one-time TV special called “Trip Ni Kris”.
Just like the botched negotiation with the Kapuso network, TV5 execs reportedly turned down the show which would have starred Kris, and which would mark the Queen of Talk’s much-awaited return to mainstream television.
Before jumping to the ABS-CBN fence, Kris was Boy Abunda and Lolit Solis’ co-host for “Startalk”, a weekend showbiz-style talk show in GMA. When she left ABS-CBN, Kris signed up with Tony Tuviera’s APT Productions which also manages Marian Rivera and Maine Mendoza’s career.
This could mean that the Queen of Talk’s fans may really have to wait a little bit more for her return. JB
