It’s official. Kapuso actor Alden Richards has been revealed as the face of the Department of Health’s (DOH) COVID-19 campaign.
As we reported yesterday, fans have unanimously guessed, based on DOH’s blurred photo, that it will now be Alden who will champion the cause for COVID-19 programs.
On its official Twitter account today, July 8, DOT posted this announcement:
“Mga kababayan, ito na ang tamang panahon! Ipinakikilala na namin sa inyo ang ating BIDA champion! Panoorin ang video sa ibaba upang makilala na siya (Our countryment, this is the right time! We’re introducing our BIDA champion! Just watch the video below for you to know him). Together, we can all #BIDASolusyon sa COVID-19! #BeatCOVID19 #WeHealAsOne.”
The video showed Alden talking about his latest assignment:
“Magandang araw po sa inyong lahat. Si Alden Richards po ito at tama po kayo, ako po ang bagong ambassador ng Bida Solusyon sa COVID-19. (Good day to all of you. This is Alden Richards and you’re right, I am the new ambassador of Bida Solusyon for COVID-19.)
“Paano nga ba tayo magiging solusyon sa COVID-19? Simpleng-simple lang po iyan. Kailangan lang po nating tandaan ang BIDA acronym. (How can we be the solution for COVID-19? It’s so simple. We just have to memorize the BIDA acronym.)
“Unang letra po, letrang B, ang ibig sabihin po noon ay bawal walang mask, ‘yung face mask po. Hindi po tayo puwedeng lumabas kung walang mask. (The first letter, letter B, means it is prohibited to not wear a mask. We are not allowed to go out without masks.)
“Sa letrang I naman po, I-sanitize ang mga kamay at iwasang humawak ng mga bagay. (For the letter I, it stands for sanitizing our hands and avoid touching things.)
“Letter D, dumistansiya ng isang metro. (For letter D, let’s be at a distance of about one meter apart.)
“At ang panghuli, letrang A, alamin ang tamang impormasyon patungkol sa COVID-19. (And for the last letter, letter A, learn the correct information about COVID-19.)
“Mga kaibigan, ngayon pong panahon ng pandemya, tayo naman po ang bibida. Together let us hashtag BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19.” (Friends, now that there is a pandemic, we should all be the star.)
Fans lapped up Richards’ latest endeavor. In the comments for the said DOH Twitter post, adoring supporters of the actor commented positively.
For @RFJ_stark, Richards is on the right track, saying, “Using your influence to provide public awareness! Good job!”
One @AlexM155 is thankful for the actor’s campaign, “Maraming salamat sa reminder @aldenrichards02 (Thank you for the reminder). Together, we can all #BIDASolusyon sa COVID-19!”
“Congratulations @aldenrichards02 for being the New @DOHgovph Ambassador,” @yammybite124 said.
Another fan, @AgananThess felt the same, saying, “Salamat po @DOHgovph, ang pogi po ng tagapagpaalala nyo pra sa aming netizens. kahit ulit ulitin ko pagview kabisado ko na nga po sinabi ni #AldenRichards.”
(Thank you, DOH. The guy who reminds us netizens is so handsome. I don’t mind watching it over and over again. I have now memorized what Alden Richards said.)
Meanwhile, @bvnida believes the actor is the only one fit for the job. She said, “Siya at wala nang iba pa ang angkop magpakalat ng #BIDASolusyon sa COVID 19.” (Alden and no one else is fit to spread the word [on this campaign].)
“Putting your inspiring powers to good use,” said @magneto444. “And really loving your positive aura, beautiful soul. We need that good aura big time! We’re keeping BIDA in mind.” JB
