‘Dreaming while awake’

(Part 3)

The bizarre and unusual experience of Keith Dovichi of Pioneer, California, of finding body marks corresponding to events in his dreams provides fertile ground for speculations regarding the nature of near-death experience (NDE) and interactions between mind, matter and spirit.

I suspect that what happened to him, when his astral body was forced out of its physical shell during his NDE, was the creation of an opening (fissure) or portal between his physical and his astral body, such that what happens in the astral realm is, in fact, or in reality, happening in the physical world.

That is why he said he is “dreaming while awake.” That is exactly what some people feel when out of their body. I have experienced this myself several times before, when I would go into a trance and leave my body. I would seem to be dreaming, but I was not. And I felt that my body was with me, but it was not a physical body.

It is weird, I know, but that is exactly the feeling.

Similarly, when I ask my students in my ESP seminar to do remote viewing by projecting their consciousness to an unknown person’s house, the astral body of the person doing the remote viewing sometimes goes with him and becomes visible to others.

I remember at least two cases where the persons doing the remote viewing were actually seen by somebody in the house, describing these persons in perfect detail as the one doing the exercise in class.

Another thing, as reported to me by a British astrophysicist who learned the method of remote viewing from me, is that he asks his subjects to touch and move small objects they find in the house they are remotely viewing, such as an ashtray or glass of water, from one place to another, and they are able to do it.

Tremendous powers

To me, such examples are very exciting because they prove the existence of the tremendous powers of the human mind that we are not fully aware of—or that we don’t believe to be possible.

It is like what is happening in the quantum world of small particles of matter: Scientists cannot predict where an electron or a subatomic particle is until they measure or observe it. These particles behave in a manner that completely defies the hallowed principles of classical Newtonian physics.

I believe that if mystics, shamans, parapsychologists and quantum physicists would sit down together and discuss how they view the physical universe, we will make more progress in understanding what really makes up the bizarre world of subatomic particles and how they change and solidify as they approach the macro level.

Science and spirituality seem to be two separate, independent, and even opposing approaches to the study of nature, but they are actually complementary. They are not mutually exclusive. When we begin to see how the spirit world interacts with matter, we will cease to use the word “impossible” in our vocabulary. If it is true that matter is ultimately made of nothing, and the wave function collapses when somebody measures or observes it, then we cannot eliminate the mind or consciousness in the creation of reality.

Is it possible then that matter is really just “condensed spirit?”

The distinction between the physical and the nonphysical (or spiritual) world is illusory. In time, this will be regarded as a self-eminent truth.

According to one theory or belief, in the astral realm, what one thinks of becomes a reality. If I think of an apple, for example, the fruit will appear automatically in reality. In the astral realm, matter and mind are one. To think is to create. Mainstream science cannot accept this, and will consider such propositions nonsense. At this point of human evolution, this may be correct. We have not yet reached the stage where we have mastered full control of all our mental faculties. INQ
