Korina Sanchez overwhelmed by number of applicants wanting to adopt rescued Chow Chow

Korina Sanchez’s love for animals prevailed once again when she recently refused a Chow Chow named Cotton to be euthanised. Thus, she asked netizens to adopt Cotton and give him a loving, permanent home.

Sanchez shared a picture of Cotton with his veterinarian last Tuesday on her Instagram page.

“Hello animal lover and co-fur parents! I’d like you to meet Cotton. He is a [seven]-month-old pure breed baby chowchow who was brought to the vet and abandoned there by his original family. The owners want him euthanised, meaning KILLED, by the vet because they say they can’t afford to keep him. So I said, STOP! No way!” she narrated.

She then made a public plea for those who “are in need of more love” in their lives to give Cotton a “forever home.” Of course, with the adoption comes some freebies, as promised by the TV host. Some of these are “a free adoption kit” inclusive of a dog bed, dog bowls, collar and leash, sample food, vitamins and supplements, and shampoo/brush.”

She is asking interested pawrents to reach out to adoptapetfromk@gmail.com.

“My assistant will contact you for an interview. No fees required. Sige naaaaaa…. be a hero to a voiceless future member of your family now,” she said. She then expressed gratitude to Cotton’s veterinarian, “Ally Almario of Safurry Veterinary clinic for taking care of Cotton in the meantime and also refusing to kill Cotton.”

Later on the same day, she expressed how overwhelmed she was on the number of responses she received to adopt Cotton.

“Hello all lovers of Cotton, the abandoned baby chowhow! Soooo many of you responded to my callout for help in getting Cotton into his furever home and family. Wow, thanksssss….Now I’m sure na sa dinami-dami ninyong nag-apply (with many of you who applied), I’ll find at least one good home for Cotton. But please give me time to sift through all applicants. Right now, we are CLOSING the applications temporarily, until we find Cotton’s perfect family,” she announced on Instagram as well.

And in the event that Cotton is finally adopted, Sanchez will still check on him.

“We also check the dogs I adopt out. Until we feel confident you really can take care of the pet, we will be calling once in a while. So, please wait for our call to you for a short interview okay? Meantime, I hope the rest of you are open to adopting other pets I’ll be posting here,” Sanchez said. “Loving and being loved by a pet makes for the #BestLife.” JB
