Actress Nikki Valdez noted the difference between fans of yesterday and today after receiving a hurtful comment that made mention of her daughter.

Calling today’s celebrity supporters “toxic”, Valdez took to Twitter to express her disgust over a basher.

She said that there have always been fandoms, even during the time of Vilma Santos and Nora Aunor, but not as intense as the ones today.

“Grabe nila ipagtanggol ang mga idolo nila PERO hindi sila tulad ng generation ng some members ng fandoms ngayon. [Nang-aaway] ng artista, staff at mga respetadong journalists and writers dahil lang nahurt sila para sa iniidolo nila,” she wrote.

(They were intense in defending their idols but they are not like some members of fandoms of this generation. They fight celebrities, staff and respected journalists and writers all because they were hurt for their idols.)

“Worst is some of you hide behind your idol’s pictures. Malala kayo! Anong meron sa mga ganitong fans para kayanin niyong gawin ito? Pwede kayo magtanggol pero huwag toxic my goodness,” she stated on July 21.

(You’re extreme. What is in these fans to make them do this? You can defend but don’t be toxic my goodness.)

This observation came after she posted a screengrab of a tweet from one @AshGladz022020, a profile that carried the picture of singer Sarah Geronimo.

“Akala ko ba tapos bakit eto ka naman…pinagtawanan mo pa talga ha,,,ano rin kaya mararamdaman mo ku g pagtwanan rin namin anak mo…plastic ka!!” the comment read.

(I thought this was over but here you are again… you really laughed at it… what would you feel if we laughed at your kid… you’re plastic!)

Incensed, Valdez posted a series of tweets on the same day directed at the Twitter user.

“I can take all the worst things you can say about me pero pag anak ko ang dinamay ninyo, diyan tayo magkakagulo! Kung sino ka man, buhay mo ba itong nasa twitter para mandamay ng bata? Tumawa ka at mga tulad mong toxic na tao ngayon pero sisiguraduhin kong singilin ka,” she said.

(I can take all the worst things you can say about me but if you involve my kid, that’s where we will clash. Whoever you are, is Twitter your life for you to involve a kid? You and your toxic ilk laugh now but I will make sure that you will pay for this.)

Valdez also noted that the Twitter user already deactivated the account, which she called out.

“Kung talagang malakas ang loob mo, di mo buburahin tweet mo!!!! Alam mong mali ano kaya tinanggal mo?”

(If you are really gutsy, you will not delete your tweet!!! You know you were wrong that’s why you removed it?)

“Working on finding you ad putting you to where you belong!” she warned.

Yesterday, July 22, Valdez continued with her aria on Twitter despite being reached out for an apology.

“So may nagpapaabot DAW ng sorry sa careless tweet niya kahapon PERO bakit through DM? Sana kung gaano ka katapang magtweet ng ‘what if anak mo ang pagtawanan namin’ eh ganon ka rin katapang humingi ng tawad in PUBLIC.”

(So, there was one person who wants to extend a sorry for the careless tweet yesterday BUT why through DM? If you’re brave enough to tweet “what if anak mo ang pagtawanan namin”, you should also be brave enough to apologize in PUBLIC.)

She also said she reacted to the tweet because her daughter is a person with disability, which is why she felt off about the statement. NVG
