Banat By tests positive for COVID-19, believes it’s a lesson on discipline from God

Vlogger and passionate Duterte administration supporter Banat By (Byron Cristobal in real life) tested positive for the novel coronavirus, but he’s undeterred as he asserts it’s just God’s good way of disciplining him.

Banat By shared how he came to know he was already infected with the deadly COVID-19, as per his Facebook page today Aug. 18.

“I am POSITIVE,” he declared. He then said he has not been feeling well “since August 6, my birthday.”

“I rested and took my usual medicine for my asthma. After three days, I was well, I thought everything is okay; pero hindi pala (but it didn’t turn out that way),” he narrated.

“When I tried to be strong and in control, the more I become weak. I realized God has something for me. Ironically, birthday ko pa. Sabi ko nga sa sarili (I told myself), ‘What a birthday gift from you, Lord, if this is COVID.’”

Ten days after his birthday, he took action: “Then on Aug. 16, when I finally decided to have a swab test, at kinabukasan (a day after, which was yesterday), nakuha ko na ang resulta ko (I already got my result). I WAS POSITIVE of COVID.”

Although sick, Banat By is far from disappointed and even stated that “this post is not about me.” He then went on to reflect about the disease as God’s way of showing him His love, “that’s why he is disciplining me to take life slowly and re-evaluate what matters more in life.”

He also claimed that he is sharing his experience for the frontliners, because he wants to feature them in his blog. He admitted that the government’s efforts are not enough in helping back the frontliners who have sacrificed so much for the country. JB
