Maris Racal welcomes fans to her newly-renovated home via virtual tour

Actress-singer Maris Racal gave a glimpse of her modern home to fans via her latest vlog, but just as everyone else, her home was not without the usual materials for observing protocols amid COVID-19.

Easily discernible is the young star’s observance of health protocols, as upon entering the newly-renovated house, one will be “greeted by a four-layer rack” where “all things for sanitation like alcohol, aerosol spray, hand sanitizers, hand gloves, face shields [and] masks” can be found.

“Ito naman ang favorite side ko (This is my favorite part),” she said next as she went on with the tour, posted via her YouTube channel on Aug. 24, referring to the foyer where her shoe rack-cum-console table can be found. It has flowers, accessories, figurines and a snake plant which Racal calls “Jhermelyn.”

“Pinapangalanan ko ang plants ko kasi I watched a video na kapag binibigyan mo ng love ang plants (ay) nabubuhay talaga sila,” she explained. (I give my plants names because I saw a video which said that if you give your plants love, they will really live.)

She then showed off her palmera plant which she calls “Lucrecia” for a “dramatic” feel.

Upon reaching the second floor, where one is greeted by a piano and a gallery wall, Racal made a little confession: she’s not into displaying her photos. She said it’s only recently that she considered it, choosing to display an artsy portrait of her done by celebrity photographer Shaira Luna.

Racal next showed off some of her painting collection, such as one from artist Buddy Cabrera which she bought from a store in Cubao.

“Pagpunta ko doon ay close pa ang store. Naghanap ako ng number. Parang at that time ay walang nagri-ring. Binalikan ko siya the next day. Buti na lang hindi pa siya nabenta,” she recalled of her acquisition of the artwork.

(When I went there, the store was still closed. I looked for a number. But at that time, it wasn’t ringing. I came back the next day. Thank God the artwork has not been sold yet.)

Another from her collection is a digital print of one of the paintings of the expressionist Amadeo Modigliani.

On describing her living room, she credited the designer Carell Garcia.

“I owe it to her. She is so talented. Ako lang naman ang nagbigay ng colors na gusto ko, but she made me happy,” Racal said. (I simply gave her the colors that I wanted.)

She acknowledged Garcia’s work for making the sala look more spacious than it is, with the use of a simple mirror, as well as for making it chic with artwork and accents.

By the time viewers are brought to the third floor, they’re in for a surprise, as Racal revealed her collection of books which she humorously talked about.

“Guys, ang dami kong self-help books kasi parang dati kapag malungkot ako (ay) bumibili ako tapos kinabukasan (ay) okay na ako. Tapos hanggang three pages lang ako. But still, I still try to read them,” she said.

(Guys, I have so many self-help books. I used to buy them whenever I feel lonely; the next day, I already feel okay. Though I usually don’t get past page three.) JB
