Actor Troy Montero seems to have educated himself well on the effects of plants and cats to human existence, how these have calming effects on one’s being, and how the two can coexist in harmony.
Montero, seen cuddling with a cat while inside his home which is teeming with various plants, expressed his thoughts today via Instagram.
“Plants can make you feel better,” he said. “Plants bring feelings of vitality, increased energy and improve the state of mind. The subliminal effect of plants has an effect that lifts the spirit and brings happiness.”
Montero likewise delved on the benefits of having furry friends like cats.
“Having a cat around you can actually trigger the release of calming chemicals in your body which lower your stress and anxiety levels,” he explained.
But he cautioned that “living with plants and cats can be tricky.” He advised people to do some research first to know what cat type is comfortable with what plant.
“Some cats love to play or even eat the plants. Catnip is actually a plant called a Nepeta cataria, a shrub in the mint family. There are also lots of plants that are toxic to cats. So make sure you do a little research first,” he said.
“We’re lucky because our cat doesn’t mess with the plants. Just like baby Rocket,” Montero added.
Montero also showed a rare plant in his Instagram page yesterday, Sept. 2. The plant is supposedly “something you probably don’t see every day.”
“A Stephania Pierrei or Stephania Erecta from Arid Aroids, Sun And Sans,” he said, tagging the sources of his plant. “I find the large, woody caudex or stem so cool and a bit odd.” JB
