Before being a successful actress, comedian and vlogger, Alex Gonzaga had her fair share of losses and rejections. But she now achieved another dream after being chosen to endorse a popular mall.

Alex’s musings about how she was always left out in the race, and how her being known as the sister of Toni Gonzaga worked against her, can be seen in her Instagram post yesterday, Sept. 13.

“Whenever [I] see billboards of SM’s past endorsers [I] would always think to myself na impossible siguro na makita ko rin sarili ko maging part ng SM. Baka kahit makasama sa list ng pagpipilian endorsers di pa ako makasama. [I’m] known as ‘kapatid ni Toni,’” she said.

(Whenever I saw billboards of the mall’s past endorsers, I would always think to myself that maybe it’s impossible to see myself as part of it. Maybe I won’t even be included in the list of options as endorsers. I’m known as the “sister of Toni.”)

But it seems fated that she eventually escaped the shadow of her elder sister and make it on her own as she has finally become an endorser for the mall. While shooting for the project, Gonzaga said she felt God’s presence.

“Naramdaman ko na sinabi nya while [I] was posing and [made to hold the] shopping bags na ‘Ayan sabi ko sayo I will be with you and I will never leave and forsake you,’” she said.

(I felt that He said while I was posing and they asked me to hold the shopping bags, “There, I told you I will be with you and I will never leave and forsake you.”)

As the shooting was going on, Gonzaga said she wanted to cry because she felt “another impossible dream happened.”

“I was so used to losing and being rejected that when God is already blessing me hindi ko na maaalala at maiisip na isa yun sa pinagdasal ko. Mas nakinig ako sa sinasabi ng mundo na hindi pwede mangyari yun sa akin,” she said.

(I was so used to losing and being rejected that when God is already blessing me, I didn’t remember and I didn’t recall that it was what I prayed for. I listened more to what the world was saying that things won’t be possible for me.)

Gonzaga stressed to her fans that “God is listening” and “His blessings and plans are on the way.” JB
