Gretchen Fullido learns patience from nurturing plants

Having been into gardening for years now, entertainment news anchor Gretchen Fullido recently took the challenge of nurturing a plant which she had to revive.

Fullido was tasked by a friend to revive a monstera deliciosa plant which she called “JoRay” as per her Facebook post today, Sept. 14.

“It was a friend’s plant that had scales and needed a boost of nutrients & TLC,” she said.

The plant appeared badly grown as “JoRay looked a little sad… [and] even had some [scales] (insects that attach themselves on the leaves and stem and feed on the sap of a plant).”

For two weeks, Fullido nurtured “JoRay” and found some development in it after she treated it with her DIY spray and soil nutrients.

“’JoRay’ is looking better than ever [and a] new leaf has finally unfurled,” she announced.

For someone who’s a “plantita” and “doing indoor gardening for a few years now,” Fullido learned a valuable lesson from gardening, and that is to “be patient with our plants.”

“Nothing happens in an instant. It takes time, patience and a lot of nurturing for plants to bounce back to better health. So don’t be discouraged about planting [and] if something happened to your plant — it’s really trial and error and a lot of research for you to get better at it,” she explained. “Our plants just need time to heal and soon after, you’ll be surprised that there’s new growth if you just give it lots of TLC.”

Fullido has also been busy with a planting challenge on her Facebook page. Fulido posed with some of her alocasia plants, as seen from her post on Sept. 12.

“Will post a video of the mechanics of the #plantitagretaalocasiachallenge soon on my FB page (Gretchen Fullido Official Page) and on my YouTube (It’s A Greta Life),” Fullido said. “I will also announce the winners there after.” JB
