A Michael Cacnio art piece is still on display in the sala of actress Bea Alonzo, a remembrance of her romance with actor Zanjoe Marudo.
Alonzo proudly displayed the gift from Marudo when she gave a virtual tour of her home to her fans, as seen in her YouTube vlog on Sept. 26.
“When we broke up, I was wondering kung dapat ba tinatangal ‘yung mga bagay na meron ka from your ex (if you should remove things that you have from your ex). But I just really find this so beautiful and it reminds me of our good memories, so I thought why not keep it?” she explained.
The house has been renovated last year.
“Maraming nagbago sa furniture (There’s been a lot of changes in the furniture), but nothing structural, more on furniture lang (only),” Alonzo said.
The actress is happy with her interior designer, her friend Jeizele delos Reyes-Go, who put Alonzo’s “vision into reality.” While we can get caught up on what theme to follow, Alonzo believes that we should not focus on the theme too much, and focus instead on how our homes make us feel.
At the foyer, Alonzo showed her fans and followers a lifesize mirror made of capiz, and a chandelier which used to be silver and crystal until she had it painted black.
“Kasi gusto ko ng medyo (I like it a little) perky and it actually gives me that Philippe Starck look na mura lang (that is inexpensive) so very practical,” she said, referring to the French architect and designer.
Then she showed off her office, the “least used room in the house.”
“I don’t do meetings here. I don’t really work here but sometimes this becomes my glam room. Actually, I place all my [memorabilia], my awards, my book collections here,” she said.
Alonzo was particularly proud of her Mark Nicdao photo done in collaboration with Henri Lamy, a French painter.
“When I saw this whole piece, I said to Mark, ‘kailangan akin na ‘yan’ (I need to have that). So, I bought it from him and I feel like it ties the room together,” she said.
Alonzo also showed some of her books, her collection of digital prints of her favorite paintings from her favorite artists, a Chanel coffee table book, a book on Grace Kelly of Monaco for Dior, and a beautiful painting by Arturo Luz who is a National Artist for visual arts.
She took note of a bench made from a mango tree because it reminds her of her family’s mango farm in Zambales. She was also proud of her diamond chairs, a Twiggy floor lamp by Foscarini and drift wood from La Union.
“I think it’s very beautiful,” Alonzo noted. “It’s very old, parang (it looks) perfect for this wall so I didn’t remove it during renovation.” JB
