Star Pop’s latest artist Kanishia wants to make her presence felt in the world of Tiktok through her music.
Kanishia, who recently launched her debut single “A Little Taste of Danger,” acknowledges the popularity of the video-sharing platform conquering the social media landscape these days.
“Gusto kong magkaroon ng opportunity sa Tiktok kasi right now po ang daming nanonood sa Tiktok,” she said in an online press conference for her single, last Thursday, Oct. 15. (I want to have an opportunity in Tiktok because right now, a lot of people are watching it.)
She believes that with the upbeat vibe of her new song, young people will very much relate to it, especially since it tackles the life of a millennial wanting to try new things. This De La Salle University business management student can truly relate to the free-spirited personality of the girl in her song. She is just as adventurous like her.
“Actually, kami po palagi kaming pumupunta sa mga zipline, ‘yung ganoong activities like tatalon ka sa cliff, magha-hiking kayo. Sobrang saya kasi ng adrenaline feeling,” she shared. (Actually, we always go ziplining, those kinds of activities where you will jump off a cliff, then you go hiking. It is so joyful to have that adrenaline [rush].)
And while she is having a music career, Kanishia still wants to stay in the dean’s list.
“Gusto ng parents ko na hindi ka lang beauty, hindi ka lang talent. Dapat streetwise ka and may alam ka,” she said. (My parents want us to have not only beauty and talent. You should also be streetwise and knowledgeable.)
The 19-year-old also follows limitations set by her parents, like on how she would appear in public.
“Bawal na bawal ko pong gawin is magpakita ng upper part, ng cleavage. Bawal po ako mag-dress ng racy,” she said. (I’m forbidden to show my upper part, my cleavage. I am also forbidden to be racy in my clothing.)
As for a dream leading man, Kanishia mentioned two idols – Donny Pangilinan and Daniel Padilla.
“Ang pinaka-crush ko po ngayon si Donny Pangilinan and Daniel Padilla. Kung papapiliin ako, kay Donny po. Kasi ang cute po nila. Kay Donny, Pilipinong-Pilipino ang hitsura niya. Si Daniel, ‘yung dating niya na parang Bad Boy,” she said.
(My crushes right now are Donny Pangilinan and Daniel Padilla. But if I have to make a choice, I’ll chose Donny. They’re both cute. With Donny, he really has a Filipino look. As for Daniel, I like his bad boy image.)
“A Little Taste of Danger” was written and composed by singer-songwriter Marion Aunor, and produced by Jack Rufo and ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo. Kanishia is a welcome addition to the rich talents under Star Pop, an ABS-CBN Music label for the younger audience, headed by Rox Santos. JB
