MANILA, Philippines — One of the candidates of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant was proud to show the world that she is part of the LGBTQIA+ community after identifying herself as bisexual.
In a closed door interview with the candidates, a clip of which was uploaded on YouTube Monday, Cavite bet Kimberly “Billie” Hakenson was shown as saying, “I’m Billie Hakenson, I’m representing Cavite. I’m bisexual and I’m proud to be here.”
In Hakenson’s Instagram post last Oct. 17, she somehow proclaimed that she was not afraid to show the world who she really is.
“I know who I am, I know what I can do,” Hakenson said in her post.
“I will tell my story as truly as I can and I will enjoy every bit of this journey as I build myself,” she added.
Hakenson is one of the more than 40 candidates vying for the Miss Universe Philippines crown. The coronation ceremonies for the pageant will be on Oct. 25, to be held in Baguio City.
