Actress and yoga instructor Maxene Magalona turned a year older yesterday, Nov. 23. To honor her special day, she wrote a letter addressing God and shared this with fans, accompanied by a throwback photo of hers as a child, dressed for what appears to be a first communion.
She expressed her gratitude for life, its “trials… hardships,” and her being able to find “inner peace and immeasurable joy,” as seen on her Instagram page on the same day. She then stated her birthday wishes.
“Today, I wish for healing, harmony and happiness for the whole world. Please watch over our families and friends in the Philippines and protect our loved ones from harm. I humbly ask that You continue to bless our country and the rest of the world during these difficult times,” she prayed. “May all beings be free from pain and suffering and may You help and heal those who need it most.”
On a more personal note, Magalona asked for guidance for her and her husband, musician Rob Mananquil.
“Give us more strength and wisdom to be able to serve You even more,” she said. “I know I am not perfect and I do not strive to be but I am confident that Your love is and it is the only thing that I will ever need in this life.”
Magalona and Mananquil are currently staying in Bali, Indonesia. They have been stranded there since the end of February due to the unavailability of flights back to the Philippines, from border closures due to COVID-19.
Magalona has been vocal about how their practice of yoga has helped them cope with the anxieties from their situation. JB
