Rica Peralejo gets real on ‘effortless’ beauty seen online

At her age, actress Rica Peralejo has a different perspective when it comes to making herself look more beautiful.

Peralejo, 39, spoke about the essence of looking at peace versus looking beautiful as per her Instagram post today, Nov. 26, where she posted a photo of herself with light makeup.

She initially dwelt on achieving the no-makeup makeup look which she learned from the past.

“Sorry for my face, pero type na type ko lang [iyong] very light makeup ko today pati kilay ko — tama lang sa okasyon, haha!” she said in her post.

(Sorry for my face, but I really like the very light makeup today including my eyebrows – just right for the occasion, haha!)

Peralejo admitted that since 2005, her makeup of choice is achieving the no makeup makeup look “which @justinenavato calls the ‘parang wala lang (effortless)’ look.”

She made a disclaimer, however: “I have several beauty products that achieve this look, actually, so hindi naman (that’s not really) [iyan] COMPLETELY NATURAL.”

“I read it elsewhere that even beauty queens don’t wake up the way they usually look so [‘wag] sana tayong mainsecure (let’s not be insecure), thinking blessed lang talaga [iyong] ibang tao at tayo hindi (other people are blessed and we are not.)”

Peralejo believes there is an advantage for people who make an effort to look beautiful.

“But I do hope we all realize that many of what we see online had to be fixed, beautified, organized, to look ‘effortlessly pretty,’” she said.

Peralejo also believes that some just “have the advantage of age which you usually lose over time.”

No, she’s not trying to sound bitter as “ako mismo nafeefeel ko na hindi kasing effortless ang pagpapaganda ko these days when compared to my 20s.”

(I myself feel that I no longer feel as effortless in making myself look beautiful these days compared to my 20s.)

In the end, Peralejo guarantees one thing – “may ganda ako lately na wala [sa ‘kin] when I was younger.” (I have a beauty lately that I did not have when I was younger.)

“And I think that is the inner confidence of knowing I am loved, accepted, valued, despite my aging skin and body.”
