How BTS helps me through the pandemic

First, I want to share how I became a fan of BTS.

I was only 10 years old when I accidentally clicked on the K-pop group’s music video titled “Boy In Luv” way back in 2014. By December that year, I’d become part of the Adorable Representative MC for Youth (also known as Army).

Being part of the fandom is fun. I gained friends and I learned how to appreciate others, how to appreciate myself, and how to love myself.

I admire BTS not just for their looks or their talents, but also because of their messages and their captivating words. They deserve all the good things and no one can ever change my mind.

Since the pandemic, BTS has been helping lessen my stress. They help me strive to study more. I always listen to their songs when I am answering my modules. I sing along with them—something I haven’t experienced doing yet with them in person. I’m not losing hope. I’m holding on to the hope that I’ll get to see them up close and cheer for them someday.

My hope

When I feel exhausted and tired, I watch videos about them and that makes me regain my energy.

BTS isn’t just a story about seven people—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook—it is a story about you and me. They were my wall when I badly needed someone to lean on. They were like my rope when I needed something to hold on to. They are and will always be my hope.

There is something about them no other group has. Maybe it’s their powerful messages, captivating words and aura. Or maybe they are just pure. They’ve already proven that they deserve all the accolades.

They have the power to change people’s hearts and lifestyle. They’ve fixed broken hearts and saved lives, including people who’ve experienced being suicidal. They are a great motivation and inspiration. They’re a family for us and for those who don’t have anyone. Some people hate them and I don’t really know why. But the fact that cannot be denied is that they are a great group. If you ask me, why them? I say, why not? —CONTRIBUTED
